Jonathan Slaatto is a danish cellist born in Germany 1977. He began playing the cello at the age of six and has since established himself as a prominent performer in the Nordic classical music scene. Among his mentors are The Alban Berg Quartet, Torleif Thedeen and Sergio Azzolini. Slaatto has received numerous awards including the ARD prize and a prize at the Melbourne Chamber Music Competition. He has collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians, amongst others Christian Tetzlaff and Martin Fröst, and has performed as a soloist with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Schottisch National Orchestra. He works as a solo cellist in Odense Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble MidtVest. As artistic co-leader he established the Schackenborg Musikfest in 2021 -one of the leading chamber music festivals of the Danish/German border region.
